It's no secret that galaxy patterns and sneakers are trending now. That's why you have to add an extra edge to your galaxy shoes to make them stand out. In this tutorial, I will show you how I customized my stylish new Aurora Wind Galaxy Universe Sneakers for my brother. Given that the sneakers are already unique, I wanted to add an edge to them to fit his edgy style.
For this project you will need:
Aurora Wind Galaxy Sneakers by Ms_Jade |
• Unlaced galaxy shoes. (I used my customizable Aurora Wind Galaxy Universe Sneakers printed on Zipz shoes sold only on Zazzle.
Sneakers with a few studs sit beside the fabric hole punch pliers. |
Fabric hole puncher, screws and screw driver. |
• A fabric hole punching tool (I used hole puncher pliers strong enough for leather)
• A small screw driver (My fabric hole puncher came with one)
•
Total Project Time:
(1 to 1.5 hours) Time varies if you are practicing with your experiment shoes or paper.
Step 1
Decide where you want to add your studs on the shoes.
You want to consider how easy it will be for you to access the area you want with your fabric hole puncher. For an ordinary shoe, you can unlace your shoes to punch holes in the toes. Since my galaxy shoes unzip from the soles, I had easy access to all parts of the upper shoe. I chose the tip of the shoes because I wanted the focal point to start at the toes. This area also was softer to punch holes and made the process much faster, but that may not be the case for your shoes.
Step 2
Decide the pattern you want to make.
This is where you can organically decide the pattern like I did or just make a special design. When you want to make a special design, use the fabric hole puncher to make holes on some older shoes or a piece of paper.
Make a note of the size of the holes by adding a screw to the hole. Adjust the size of the whole fabric puncher to make it fit a snug fit for the screw. The whole punch size may change depending on the shoe fabric you are punching through.
Step 3
Start adding studs to your galaxy shoes while keeping track of spacing.
Make your first whole punch on the area of your sneakers. Remember to adjust your fabric hole puncher so that it can make the snug hole size need for your studs. You can tighten the screws during your application of the studs part or you can tighten them after you have applied all of them. I tightened the screws after putting in all the studs.
